A distributor orders 200 headlamp assemblies for the Isuzu D-Max 2018, confirms the model year twice, and still gets half the shipment returned. The trucks in his workshop turn out to be 2020 facelift units with the mounting points in a different position. Nothing was wrong with the parts. The specification was too loose.
That one scene explains most of the friction in this trade. On the D-Max, a part is identified by generation, trim, appearance version and drive side, not by the model name. Treat "D-Max" as a single truck and the shipment will fit a fraction of the fleet.
What follows is how the D-Max range actually breaks up in our catalogue, what each part family demands from a manufacturer, and the checks that stop a repeat order from turning into a claim.
Isuzu sold several distinct D-Max generations between 2002 and 2024. Each generation has its own sheet metal, its own lamp brackets and its own connector layout. Buying by year of manufacture is roughly, but not exactly, the same as buying by part number, and "roughly" is where returns come from.
Variation also lives inside a generation. The same lamp assembly may be offered with a plain lens or a blacked-out surround, and those are separate line items. In our own catalogue they carry different codes, because the buyer who wants one usually does not want the other.
Then there is regional trim. The same truck sold into different markets can carry a different grille and different brightwork, which is why regional versions sit on their own product line rather than sharing part numbers with the rest.
An enquiry with no part number should therefore carry at least:
Miss any one of those and the order will need a second round of questions, usually after the container has already been loaded.
Using the year alone is slow. Using the catalogue prefix is fast, because every D-Max part we publish carries a prefix that points at one generation.
| Model years | Catalogue prefix | Published part families |
|---|---|---|
| 2002-2011 | XT-DMAX- | Lighting, body |
| 2012-2015 | XT-12DMX- | Lighting, body |
| 2015 | XT-15DMAX- | Lighting |
| 2018 | XT-18DMAX- | Lighting, body |
| 2020 | XT-20DMAX-, XT-21DMAX- | Lighting, body |
| 2024 | XT-24DMAX- | Lighting, body |
A prefix a buyer cannot place usually means the model year was quoted wrong, not that the part is missing. Take XT-12DMX-001: the "12" is the generation, not a quantity or a batch number.

The lens is what the owner sees; the housing is what the fitter sees. Both belong on the enquiry. If you are unsure how to judge them, our guide to choosing the right Isuzu D-Max headlights and grilles walks through the comparison.
A lamp is not one part, it is four: lens, housing, reflector and bracket. Each has its own tooling, and each can be revised without the other three changing. When a buyer reports a bad fit on a lamp that used to be fine, the first question is which of the four moved.
2024 DMAX Head Lamp XT-24DMAX-001The 2024 DMAX Head Lamp is a non-factory upgrade headlamp specifically developed for the Isuzu D-MAX series pickup trucks (including the 2017-2024 models). It utilizes...View Product →
Body parts, meaning grilles, mouldings and exterior trim, follow their own timeline. A grille can stay unchanged across a generation while the headlamp is revised halfway through it. Never assume that because two parts fit the same model year they were released on the same date, and never let a grille order be confirmed against a lamp drawing.
2020 DMAX Grille Normal Standard XT-20DMAX-009The 2020 DMAX Grille Normal Standard grille is made of high-strength ABS material, offering multiple advantages such as weather resistance, corrosion resistance, and l...View Product →
Engine system parts are the narrowest line we publish: at the moment they exist for the Toyota Revo 2021 only. When a buyer asks for D-Max engine components, the honest answer is that we do not have them. Shipping an approximate part is worse for everyone than saying so, because an out-of-spec engine component costs far more than the margin on the order.
Catalogue depth is not the same as market demand. The chart below shows how many D-Max entries are currently listed for each generation.
Two generations look heaviest for opposite reasons. The 2002-2011 trucks are still working, so wear parts keep selling year after year. The 2024 generation is new, and distributors are stocking up before the first service wave arrives. The 2015 entry is light because only lighting is listed for that year, which is a catalogue gap rather than a demand gap.
A carton with the wrong code costs as much as a part with the wrong code. It becomes dead stock in the dealer's warehouse and a credit note in yours, and neither side recovers the freight.
Model year, part name or code, appearance version, quantity and drive side. The more complete the first message is, the shorter the quotation takes.
2002 through 2024, in lighting and body parts. Not every year carries every part family, which is exactly why the prefix check comes before the price.
Yes, and for a first order we recommend it. Fitment is far easier to test on one unit than to argue about across a full shipment.
If a D-Max generation or a part code on this page matches something you are sourcing, contact us with the year, the code and the quantity, and we will confirm what is available and what is not.
